What to do in Fez?

A different kind of recreation

Fez and Meknes are cities of art and history, but more active visitors will find plenty of ways to practice their favorite hobbies under ideal conditions. The two cities have a wide variety of facilities and long golf and equestrian traditions, which make them coveted destinations for the most energetic tourists.

In Fez, the golf course designed by Cabell B. Robinson presents an array of challenges that are always changing, such as a domed, rippling fairway; a green whose slope is oh-so-subtly banked; or a 13,000-square-foot bunker that is one of the most impressive in the country. Meknes is no slouch either with a nine-hole course that is just as exciting, if not more so because it is located within the city walls and can be played at night.

You can also spend a day horseback riding in both cities. Horses feature prominently here and Meknes has one of the finest equestrian centers in Morocco. Exploring the outlying areas on one of these mounts is a pleasure that mixes the pleasures of riding with the joy of discovery.

After golf and riding, you can head to the courts at Henri Leconte Center in Fez for tennis. All these activities can be practiced year round against the stunning backdrops of the two imperial cities.
